Introducing a new community partnership and monthly speaker series — LWR Talks. This series is brought to you by Lakewood Ranch, Lakewood Ranch Community Activities, and the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, partnering with Ringling College’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, which encourages the passion for learning at any stage of life.
Each month a new speaker will be featured to share knowledge in their field to the public. Admission is $10/person per session. LWR Talks will held each month at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club at 10:00am.
The next LWR Talks topic is “Creativity is Important at Every Age” with Dr. Peter McAllister on January 15th. Dr. McAllister is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Ringling College of Art and Design. Dr. McAllister received his Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto, his Ph.D. in Music Education from Kent State University in Ohio, and an Institute for Management and Leadership in Education Certificate from Harvard University.
Dr. McAllister is an avid artist and scholar, having recorded professionally and premiered more than 30 new works. He has co-edited eleven books and served on the International AVID Educational Advisory Board for the media industry, LA’s BEST Advisory Board After School Arts Program for the Los Angeles United School District, and as an accreditation site visitation chair for the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). He served as a reviewer for the policy document published by the Council of Arts Accrediting Associations, which includes the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
